FarDriver Tuning: Basic Setup

Once connected to the FarDriver App, set the following parameters PRIOR to attempting autolearn:

1) Simple Tuning Screen:  Turn off ALL of the green toggles at the bottom of the page & press save.  Proceed to the Open Pro NBLE Page.

2) Set Temp Sensor:  choose the sensor that matches your motor.  If the motor does not have a temp sensor, select NONE.

3) Pole Pairs:  select the number that corresponds to your motor.  Setting this incorrectly could damage your motor and / or controller.  Most Important Parameter

4) Rated Voltage:  set to the nominal voltage of your battery (i.e. 72)

5) Rated Power:  set to the rated power of your MOTOR (i.e. 5000 watts)

6) Max Line Curr:  do not exceed the max continuous discharge amperage of your battery.  Doing so could trigger your battery's BMS to shutdown the bike, overheat the battery, or create a fire hazard. Provided that your motor can handle it, I usually target 85% - 90% of your battery's capability.  I.e. 100a Battery = 85 or 90a of line current available.

7) Max Phase Curr:  typically 3x the line amps, but refer to your motor's data pages to ensure that it can handle the amount of phase current.  I.e. if running 90a line, then you will enter 270a for Max Phase Curr.

8) Boost Line & Phase Current:  match the numbers that you entered into Max Line & Max Phase above.

9) Low Vol Protect:  scroll down to the protect section and load the appropriate Low Voltage Protection for your battery.  Examples include 39.1 for 48V Nominal, 49.1 for 60V, and 61V for 72V systems.

This is not an exhaustive list of how to program your FarDriver.  Once you enter the above, press save and proceed to the Graph Page as you prepare to enter Auto Learning.

A) Ensure the chain is off the motor or the rear wheel is suspended in the air.  Auto Learn will spin the wheel forward & backward during the process.

B)  If not already in Auto Learn (two short beeps followed by a long beep--repeating), click on the Auto Learn button and hit enter.

C) Pull full throttle and hold it there while the wheel spins forward, pauses, then goes backwards.  Auto learn will signal completion by showing "Throttle Error" in the messages area.  Once complete, release the throttle.

D)  Last test:  barely pull the throttle and determine if the motor is spinning forward (correct) or backwards.  If backwards, go to Open Pro NBLE and change the Motor Direction parameter from 0 to 1 or vice versa.  Press save and the motor should now be going in the correct direction.

Further enhancements to power and features may be had with custom FarDriver tuning from a professional.  Never copy someone else's tune as it could present safety issues or damage equipment.  It's rare for two people to have the same components that have identical phase offsets, throttle voltage readings, etc.
